There have been threats on the royal family of the Commonwealth, and Tom Manx and Jan Gettel have been dispatched to protect them from the subversives known as the Red Hand. Tom and Jan must get the royal family off world to safety, before the Red Hand gets the upper hand. This also starts a planetary war on Bel Terra, mankind's homeworld.
