Eighteen year old Marco Esguivas had never been north of the border. His father, in charge of the loading dock at The Factory in Northern Mexico, had tried to stop his son from going on the delivery--but the boss, Ken Begal, an American, insisted. "Don't worry...He'll be back in the morning..." He said. But Marco doesn't return the next day, and ends up in a southern jail charged with the murder of an Alabama State Trooper. A Mexican Cartel, a Columbian Cartel and a local Sheriff do not want him to make it to trial. They fear an acquittal, or worse that he will strike a deal with the Americans and expose details of their smuggling operation. But an older inmate at the Cleburne County jail, Jo Frank Erwin, a fire and brimstone preacher, whose spirituality and worldliness are often at odds with each other becomes Marco's friend. In jail because of "a little sinnin', " as he call it, Joe Frank sees what is being done to Marco, and as the murder trial begins, the preacher has to decide if he will intervene, or allow the Criminal Justice System--or these people controlled by "An Evil Wind," to determine the fate of his new friend.
