Chrissy's life has completely fallen apart...

...and if she doesn't figure it out soon, she'll definitely be homeless, broke, and a giant failure for the rest of her life. Probably.

A year after college graduation, Chrissy ends up where she hoped she would never find herself: back on her parents' doorstep. She magically lands a job at the Netflix show "Let's Cook! with Derrick Longjohns," and prays it will be a one-way ticket to her dream culinary school.

But her job turns out to be nothing like she imagined, especially when she runs into a very attractive, very bicep-y stranger. Unfortunately, she is Clumsy McAwkwardson, and has a bad habit of spilling Fanta all over herself. Super attractive.

Now, she just has to pretend to be a good employee. And stay on Mom's good side. And impress her perfect sister, Paige. And help plan Grandma's (seventh) wedding. And somehow, some way, convince everyone that she has it all under control.

Q&A with Genevieve Lerner

Q: What first got you into writing?
A: Ah, that's an EXCELLENT question. I've always had this compulsion to tell stories in any way possible-whether I was acting them out onstage, telling them with my body by dancing ballet, or writing them down. I have also always had an even bigger compulsion to make people laugh at any cost. Writing became a way that I could communicate my feelings, tell stories, and get people to laugh, all the same time!

Q: Who are some of your favorite writers?
A: Well, I've always loved Sophie Kinsella because she makes me laugh harder than nearly any writer I've read. Growing up I adored Meg Cabot and Gail Carson Levine-actually, I still love them. Lately, I've been inspired by everything Jhumpa Lahiri writes, and "The Goldfinch" by Donna Tartt is my current favorite.

Q: What do you do when you're not writing?
A: I recently quit my entire life to backpack the world solo for awhile, and it was the best time I've ever had! I'm also an actor and performer, and my favorite thing is, shockingly, comedy! I love writing and performing sketches, especially when they center around a woman's experience in this world.

Q: What's next?
A: I'm currently writing a memoir of my travels, entitled "Yes to Nowhere," after my travel blog that inspired it, and working on another installment of contemporary women's literature! I am also hoping to write a full-length farce soon.
