Mum and baby both in danger

Alicia's mother is the latest casualty of Alicia's developing abilities. In an effort to get to the last conjurer, someone has kidnapped Faye, Alicia's mother. Not only is Faye in danger, but she is also pregnant, and the baby growing inside her is completely defenseless against the treatment of Faye's captors. Alicia is determined to save her mother, despite the chaos of her emotions. She feels it is her fault that she was taken in the first place, and even worse, the last words she said to her mother had been terrible. She can only hope that there would be a way to save her. Meanwhile, the adults around her, all filled with their own good intentions, have begun to act like furious children, throwing tantrums over who is right, and who is wrong about Alicia.

Everyone has an opinion about Alicia's past, present, and future, but no one has bothered to even ask her what she thinks. She finds herself stuck in the middle of an argument between Matthias, Nicolas, and her own father, that just might end up in blows. All Alicia can think of is her poor mother, completely in the dark about why she was taken in the first place, left to the whim of someone crazy enough to want to confront a conjurer.

Finally she makes it clear to the adults around her that she is the only one who will make her choices from now on. She does not back down from any of them, despite the fact that she knows she risks the consequences of talking back to those who she is supposed to respect the most. Only Matthew is brave enough to step forward and take Alicia's side, revealing for the first time to everyone including Matthias, which he has been and will do anything it takes to help and to protect Alicia. With such chaos amidst the people who are supposed to care about her the most Alicia feels as if she will never find the solution to save her mother. Thankfully Matthew's demonstration of loyalty reassures her that she is not as alone in the world as she once thought she was. She knows that Matthias will have volumes to say about the teens' budding relationship, but finally the adults agree to focus on what is important. Saving Faye and her unborn child from the clutches of a dark force.

Tension in the air

Alicia feels the uncertainty of the tension in those around her, but she ignores it as she becomes determined to do what she knows her mother would do for her in an instant. Together, Matthew and Alicia are able to embark on a journey that while not approved of by most in their strange family, is the only hope of saving Faye.
