A digital library is an online database containing digital objects such as videos, audios, texts, images, and other media formats. Institutional repositories and digital archives are the two primary types of digital libraries. Institutional repositories typically house digitized works of an institution, including books, theses, papers, and other materials. The software used in institutional repositories is specialized for searching, organizing, and archiving library content. Digital archives often preserve the context in which their records were created. This book covers some fundamental concepts, theories and practices relevant to the field and presents them in a comprehensive manner for easy interpretation of the reader.
