Emma is a comic novel written by Jane Austen, in English, published for the first time in 1815 by the publisher John Murray, on the perils of misinterpreting the romance. The main character, Emma Woodhouse, describes herself as "beautiful, smart and rich" but also quite spoiled Emma is an imperishable work and her protagonist occupies one of the places of honor in the gallery of the unforgettable heroines of universal literature.
