Inspired by the voices of the Me Too movement, M.E.K. (/mēk/) takes us on a journey from childhood to womanhood as she struggles to find herself within the context of generational abuse, female stereotypes, religious dogmas, and oppressive gender roles. Masterfully blending a rich tapestry of emotions, sounds, silences, and visuals by utilizing space, text, and format on each page M.E.K. achieves a new and unique style of poetic expression while offering the reader a healing catharsis. Each poem offers the reader an added layer of visual imagery creating a physical picture from text that deepens connection to the content. Raw and unashamedly vulnerable, M.E.K. reminds us that we are not alone as we discover a shared resiliency: "It is through our trials and tribulations that we have something to say.
