Ashton leaves the Special Branch and quickly becomes Murry's right hand man, working in a party that seems to be delivering the people's choice. The background is set against a new and desperately deep world recession. Massive unemployment and dissatisfaction with the old Party's mean that the Millennium party grows exponentially.
