When the two boys suspect a local dropout of killing their teacher, they must do what they can to bring him to justice, triggering events that will test the bond between a boy and the dog who ultimately saves his life. Goodbye, Old Paint was written by R. L. Blackledge, an avid outdoorsman who grew up in Sheridan Wyoming at the time depicted in the novel.
