Bleeding disorders usually result from hereditary deficiency of certain coagulation factors. These disorders often affect lifestyle of the patient and may have serious complications. Further studies are needed to explore the exact pathogenesis of bleeding disorders and new lines of management especially for gene therapy which is the hope for millions of patients for complete eradication of these disorders. Knowledge of these essentials is important for proper treatment planning and dental management of such patients. Additionally, complex cases of clotting and bleeding disorders most likely require physician consultation, interpretation of laboratory testing, and prudent decision making when selecting a dental or hospital treatment site. Many systemic diseases have unique oral manifestations that can aid in making diagnosis, so the need of thorough oral examination is an attempt to look into manifestations of heamatologic abnormalities.
