"Why does God allow suffering?" It's a common question that people regularly ask in times of difficult and sorrow. Author Jonathan Houston frequently pondered this question as he looked over his life's course: raised by an abusive mother, sexually abused by older boys, and imprisoned in a web of witchcraft. However, his personal testimony also reflects an awareness of God in the pain, a loving God who wanted Jonathan's story to give hope to others in similar circumstances. His autobiography, Here I Am, recounts Jonathan's visitations with Jesus as a child, who revealed to him that heartache and sadness were coming soon. As Jonathan dealt with each disheartening event, he struggled with God and wanted to know what His plan was through this. What Jonathan learned was that through his story, lessons were produced on forgiving the past, significance of the Holy Trinity and healing through a relationship with Jesus
