What if you could go back in time and relive one day over again. Relive that pivotal movement where you took a wrong turn. You knew you were supposed to turn right, but you veered left. I spent so much time trying to figure out why it happened. It happened; I cannot change that fact. What I could change was myself. I could learn the lesson from my mistake. I chose the path that led me to unbearable heartbreak, but along the way, I found a better version of myself. I found the woman that had always been living inside me, too afraid to emerge. Day by day as I struggled to make sense of my failure, I listened to the sound of my own voice, cheering me on every step of the way. I fell in love with my life again. Eventually, I came to appreciate those deep dark days of my past, because in that brokenness is where the light came shining through. I thank God for those days now, and I never thought I would be able to say that. I am grateful for those days of utter despair because it taught me how to let go and look forward to what remains for my future. Every end is a new beginning. Holding on to hate only makes you bitter. Forgiving the person who hurt you will set you free. My story is one filled with lies, betrayal and a shattered heart. My story is about finding self-love. How do you find self-love? You search for it everywhere, until you realize it was always right in front of you. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. God is love.
