Green Bay has seen numerous landmarks and industries come and go over the centuries. Built during a tuberculosis epidemic, the Hickory Grove sanatorium nobly served its purpose, and then its ruins sat empty for years tempting local youth to explore them. Harry Hamburgers, a chain that once rivaled McDonald's, fed Green Bay's east side for a decade before shuttering. The Port Plaza Mall and the Brown County Arena created memories for several generations before they were both torn from the landscape.
