The next mention of him is at the age of thirty when he is baptized by John in the Jordan River. What happened to him between the ages of 12 to 30? Conventional Christianity has concluded that he was a carpenter during those Missing Years, but in the four gospels, approved by the church, he is not described as a carpenter. Young Jewish boys of the first century were taught to read and write up until their bar mitzvah at the age of 13. The ones that excelled in school continued their education while the other learned their father's trade.
