The first volume in the Elsevier Nanoscience series looks at Nanostructured materials and their suitability for a range of functional systems. The nanostructured materials include, but are not limited to, metals, ceramics and polymers, as well as composite materials. The focus is on the properties of these materials that make them suitable for various applications in fuel cells, semiconductors, catalysts, biomaterials and magnetic, optical and ferroelectric materials. The different methods of synthesis of these materials are compared and the chapters are brought together by an overview looking at the prospects for the technology, and the risks associated with this.
