Only Connection is a collection of poetry written regarding demisexuality (attraction only with a prerequisite deep connection) and how it has interacted with others, society at large and within myself personally. The poetry in this collection covers love, loss, questioning societal norms and one's own identity, the ideas around gender and struggling with it as a concept for yourself, especially when also being autistic.

Demisexuality, especially being a somehow controversial aspect of asexuality, garnering opposition from asexuals, LGBT community and the non-LGBT alike. It's a term that has given me great relief from mental health anguish that I have suffered my whole life, when being so different to the norm, but until now being able to explain it, but not have a term to sum it up.

The first chapter, Love's Past focuses on my past experiences of love, trauma, manipulation and heartbreak, what I have seen of what 'love' is from what others have had to show, either to me, or to others in their own relationships. The second chapter Love Against the World shows my conceptions of what 'love' means to me being a demisexual, with a focus purely on emotional connection; hence 'Only Connection', and also causes a questioning of my own gender and the male gaze of insatiable mindless, manipulative, monkey-lust in contrast to demisexuality in every way, something I am judged by despite being opposite to. It also questions gendered stereotypes and how Only Connection is in deep contrast to the gendered stereotype of love and connection between the binary conception of genders. Love Found looks at love to be found, demisexuality explaining what true love found would be, some small experiences, little glimpses, in a variety of people I've had the great pleasure to get to know and meet.
