Sam Montgomery was moments away from ending his life when a slip of his thumb changed everything. He was so tired of the abuse from his father, the constant feeling of disappointing his girlfriend, and his reliance on drugs and alcohol to get through the day. The fight wasn't worth it anymore. It was time to check out. He hadn't meant to call Brielle, an online friend he had known for several years but had never met, but it seemed to be fate. She talked him down, and talked him into getting help. She also accidentally talked him into traveling over 1,000 miles north to seek that help in her home state of New Hampshire. Finding refuge with June and Aaron, a couple who were no strangers to addicts and loved Brielle like a daughter, Sam learns to fight the demons of addiction, as well as the demons of his past. This journey to becoming whole again makes him question his belief in a God who took his mother away from him at such a young age, and who allowed him to live with a man who was nothing but cruel to him. When his father eventually finds him again, Sam must choose: give in to that which had always saved him and helped him escape before, or let the new man he was becoming be the victor.
