From the Author I started writing this book when I was seventeen and studying for an English examination.  It took me ten years to finish - working late at night after my homework was done, writing on the backs of McDonald's tray mats during my breaks at work and, when I was teaching, working only during the school holidays. This story has been on my heart since I was a child. When I was growing up, my mother always had this lingering sense of fear about World War 3.  I vividly remember a time during my childhood when there was an almighty roar outside the house and, in that instant, mum was sure it was a bomb. This book answers the question of what comes after the apocalypse.  Is there still hope for a future beyond the darkness? Can atonement ever be made for the sins of the past?I hope you enjoy reading this story as much as I enjoyed writing it. About the Author Lesley Barklay has taught high school English, German, and History in rural and outback NSW since 2003. She loves bossing people around, reading, writing, editing, and mentoring young writers. Lesley is the author of fantasy novel Remnant, and the co-author of A Comedy of (Classroom) Errors - a book of short true stories about teaching.She is currently working on an adult fantasy series, a YA scifi series, a middle-grade adventure series, and a lower-grade biblical fiction series, because she is a sucker for punishment.
