Surrendering to the controlling power of that level is a character act. One actually gives up and relinquishes a limited amount of power over self and they are no longer in full command of themselves. Being directly under the controlling influence of another and accepting a certain amount of pressure and force is submission. To be completely submissive one is required to develop and display the Christ-like qualities of acceptance and tolerance. Developing the character improves behavior because well-pleasing qualities do not come overnight. This is a process, which takes place over time. For some people this can be a long drawn-out course, depending on the required extent of the needed development.
