Focusing on the ribbon of Hwy 101 before him, Hal was on his way from L.A. to Sonoma County. He finally found her after searching for 4-1/2 years. "Mari is married now..." He thought. "...it doesn't matter. I still have to tell her." He had to tell her he was deceived, how wrong he was, and the most crushing fact of all, that he still loved her. But, in the final analysis, it was his fault. "No, it wasn't m ... Täielik kirjeldus

Losing her was the catalyst that changed his life. He could hardly believe that he left his position at Angel City Magazine as an investigative journalist, exposing corruption. Devastated by betrayal he became corrupted himself and joined the mobsters that ruled the underbelly of the city. In taking his revenge, he became CEO of a successful corporation. An incident that used to send a chill up his spine, was now just a simple shrug. He even killed a man.
In an act of contrition, he had to lay the truth before her, at least the important part. He didn't dare tell her the rest of it. In a city like L.A., a city on wheels in more ways than one, it all goes so fast. One day you are at the top of your game with a good job, thrilling love, and the respect of all. Then with one mistake, the bottom drops out and you are nowhere. You fight your way back, losing morals along the way, and you win-but you are forever changed.
Turning on his headlights as darkness fell, his mind zeroed in on his one obsession, "Although she's married...I must get her back!"
Filled with a cast of characters that animate the story with humor, pathos and above all else-human nature, this book entertains and informs the reader touching upon aspects of law, crime, psychology, finance, relationships, and murder. It is tinged with compassion in the big city life of our anti-hero Hal Golan that stretches from Los Angeles to San Francisco and beyond. It follows a twisting, turning plot as Hal works out the complexities of his life.
REVIEW BY LOVE READING
"Supersized Blues" by Roger St. John is a twisting and turning relationship story full of drama secrets and revenge. They say "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned", but I'd say Angel City Magazine contributing editor Hal Golan hell-bent on revenge is a serious contender. We watch his relationship with research analyst Mari Carlson develop, with the complications and miscommunications that entails, when everything starts to go wrong. I'd say this is almost a trilogy in a single book. We see the relationship of Mari and Hal develop then fall apart, with Hal being sent on a much darker journey before the pair are reunited again with more revelations. And that's just these two characters! There's plenty of time given to the supporting cast of the book, with Deuce and Hal's mother Vivian going through their own personal life dramas.
I don't want to say too much more about the plot to avoid spoilers, but I found it a complex drama of epic proportions with a tinge of thrill through the middle. All of the characters, though not entirely likable, are interesting and quirky in their own way and developed enough to make this an interesting and engaging read for those looking to read a dramatic story with edge.
