With Bitcoin (BTCUSD) trading in the 10-14k range from June to the time of writing (September 16, 2019), has the bull market following the November 2018 bear market low ended? Will BTCUSD face a similar fate of a market top once BAKKT launches September 23rd in the same way that it did when the CME BTCUSD futures launched late December 2017? With Facebook leading Libra - a stablecoin initiative targeting 100 corporate partners/investors including the likes of Uber, Paypal and Stripe, and payments giants Visa and Mastercard - and Walmart announcing their own stablecoin shortly after, Bitcoin is increasingly drawing in institutional investors. Even central banks are beginning to embrace elements of crypto and blockchain as seen by the PBOC's announcement of their own digital Renminbi and BoE governor Mark Carney's comments suggesting the need to consider an alternative to the US Dollar potentially in the form of a Libra-like stablecoin. Given the rapid developments above, it is clear that the formidable rally since November has been fueled not in small part by institutional participation. Fidelity and ICAP meanwhile, continue to prepare to introduce institutional trading and custodial services for hedge funds and professional traders, while other instant messenger-based super apps ranging from Line to Kakao and Japanese banks are testing native tokens, making it increasingly important to monitor crypto prices going into year end and beyond. To help understand crypto market movements, Tradable Patterns launched its first book - Technical Analysis of Cryptocurrencies - in February 2018. He now uses technical analysis to drive more than 50% of his trading decisions, with the balance of consideration coming from fundamental analysis and management of trading psychology. The technical analysis concepts learned in this book can be applied to all liquid financial markets across all trading timeframes.
