The might of the Bulundayr Empire cannot be questioned. As their endless war against the humans of the UNED continues, a young woman is captured trying to murder a Bulundayr Vycarn aboard one of their flagships.

She calls herself Kaz of Haze. Failed in her first assignment as a Rayluvian, she must fight to survive on a world of ash and cinders, where shadowed horizons are split by violent rivers of molten metal. Abandoned by her Steelshaper, she must claw and fight her way to survival long enough to be rescued-if rescue comes at all.
