The butterfly effect is the debut Poetry collection by writers Lina Malskies and Natalie von Appen. The collection is divided into three chapters following a saying from chaos theory of a butterfly flapping its wings in one part of the world causing a hurricane on the other side of the globe. Chapter 1: the flapping of a butterfly's wings in one part of the world's poems start off in a calm undisrupted state and build up to Chapter 2: causing a hurricane on the other side of the globe, where the authors explore topics like self-discovery, heartbreak, mental health and loss -- everything that causes a metaphorical hurricane. The collection ends with Chapter 3: the chaos left behind & rebuilding. It's a chapter full of reflection and realizing that some things that happened in a phase of hurricanes can be fixed while other things might stay broken forever.
