Johnny "Boy" Pierre- is the son of Haitian immigrants coming to the U.S. seeking a better opportunity, only to live in dire poverty; when faced with the opportunity to enter the fast life, Johnny decides to take it head-on, even though it ultimately leads to the destruction of his family and of many around him. The Dopeman chronicles the life and crimes of Johnny "Boy" Pierre. Growing up at the height of the crack epidemic in New York City in the late 80s, early 90s, Johnny watched his parents struggle immensely. He hooks up with a local drug dealer with connections to Virge Maronzano, son of the most powerful Mafia boss in the country. Johnny quickly ascends through the ranks and becomes the gang's leader. During their peak the gang grosses over a billion dollars a year in the drug trade. His reign as leader lasts ten years before the FBI led by Milton Schwartz, the no nonsense head of the FBI's New York office, and Jimmy Smith, an undercover agent in the gang, are able to take him down. Johnny cooperates; assisting in breaking up the unholy alliance between his gang and the American mafia; an alliance that spanned three decades.
