Donovan Shine is a knife thrower in a traveling circus, and an alcoholic aiming to get sober. After receiving a call from his estranged brother who has been imprisoned at the infamous Bang Kwang Prison in Bangkok and sentenced to death, Donovan travels to Thailand in an attempt to help him.

Upon touching down, Donovan learns that his brother was set up by the Swedish mafia.
