Having recently lost his wife who died in an accident, Desmond struggles to overcome his grief and immerses himself totally in work. Step by step, using his analytical skills, spy tradecraft and sometimes combat training, he finds out about a group of oligarchs from the USA, Russia, China, Germany and other countries, who are hellbent on de-population. The Althofen Club, also known to the insiders as the Angels. They wish to exterminate the majority of humankind, leaving the infrastructure in place, in order to create their own world and rule it without restrictions. The means to this end is the Messiah, a deadly virus with over ninety per cent mortality rate. It is in the final stages of preparation and can be released within a month, delivering to the world what they call the Message. Project Messiah benefited hugely from the recent COVID-19 pandemic, providing its creators with all the data on the spread patterns, countermeasures and reactions on all levels, from spontaneous riots to new emergency legislation. Mercenaries are being trained at secret bases to seize and mop up the main centres of government after the Messiah had been unleashed. The Silent Message will be delivered by a network of units, strategically placed near the hubs of human activity. The unscrupulous and cynical Angels also want to use teenagers, the misguided members of the Angry Kids anti-climate change movement, to spread the Messiah. They call them the Messengers, who are blind to the true meaning of what they are doing. They are focused activists, single-track minded, and skilfully manipulated. It is up to Desmond and his colleagues to unravel the plot. Operation Eden, a unique and unprecedented venture by six nations: USA, China, Russia, the United Kingdom, Germany and France is set up to stop the Angels and their Messiah. One of the agents he works with is lovely Irina, an operative of the SVR, the Russian foreign intelligence service. Both are professionals, colleagues, and the more time they spend together the more they are attracted to each other... Despite that Op Eden is successful in rolling up Project Messiah, the Angels nearly succeed; it is just an error by the last remaining Messenger, pursued relentlessly by Desmond, that saves the world from the Message and the extinction that it brings.
