THE UNDONE"This book contains stories of three of my ancestors who each took part in the formation of the early beginnings of Western America. It starts with the first people who inhabited the region of the southwestern area of what is now known as the State of California.Conflict begian when the Spanish claimed the land for their own, then tryied to convince the Indigenous people to join the ways of the European culture, including the Catholic religion. Eventually several natives took the bait and became enslaved in their own country. One of these natives and one of the invading soldiers fell in love and married. This formed the basis for my lineage. Not all natives complied with the foreign invasion and began to raid the Spanish strongholds. Turmoil and unrest prevailed until war broke out between America and Mexico. The local natives caught in the middle were literally displaced from their homeland. The Spanish Dons lost their holdings on their vast ranchos while the Americans swarmed into the region when gold was discovered, hoping for untold riches.-- Author R R CrosthwaiteFrom Santa Barbara to San Diego, The Undone brings all the vivid history, romance, bloodshed, politics, cultures, lore and traditiona of what became California, from its earliest days until [when?], told by a present-day descendant of the colorful men and women who lived it.
