Curtis and Finnie are not your ordinary brother and sister. After learning that their mother has just passed away, they are informed that her two-million dollar estate was liquidated prior to her death and converted into a diamond ring; which, according to her wishes, was to be placed on her middle finger and buried with her. They decide to take a road trip to attend the funeral in an attempt to recover their inheritance.
Reverend Burr, harboring his own demons, and whom their mother had known for many years, is broke, both financially and morally, and must hitchhike cross-country to preside over the ceremony. Curtis and Finnie are forced to make some agonizing decisions along the way that will change their lives forever, and things are never quite what they seem in this edgy and offbeat dark comedy.
