Torak knows nothing about the world outside of the weapons academy. Orphaned at a young age he was raised there as a servant. He lives a mundane life catering to swordsmen and the spoiled nobility who were there to learn the art of weaponry. Torak has never met an elf, dwarf, or wizard, let alone the evil creatures who plague the lands. Gorin, the green watch dragon who guards the academy, is his only friend. Ironic since every night evil dragons chase him through his dreams.

Torak's days are filled performing his servant's duties. At the same time, he secretly watches and practices swordsmanship all while racked with pain from some mysterious ailment. Only the daily dose of an elixir provided by a medicine man keeps the pain tolerable. Torak's simple life is abruptly changed when the strange man visits him in a dream stating he no longer needs his treatment. This sets off a chain reaction after his father's identity as a platinum dragon is dramatically revealed.

Torak is forced to flee his servant's life, form unlikely alliances, and fight not only for his own survival but for the survival of all the races in the lands. The enemies Torak makes not only have legions at their command but magic against which there is no defense. Will his friends and own unique abilities be enough?
