TROLLS is a science fiction story set in a future in which virtually all humanity live their entire lives within the confines of a few towers or massive skyscrapers. Abruptly their serene existence is faced with destruction. Vice-chancellor of Tower Fifty-One, Govann Brann, unassuming academic turned politico, confronted with a dozen armed zealots wondered how it could have come to this. Abruptly centuries of peace and prosperity had degenerated into riots, intrigue, and rebellion; within, beneath and in space above Tower Fifty-One. Just weeks before on his penthouse balcony he had marveled at how a resurgent humanity had triumphed over an apocalyptic event to create this utopia. Govann, like all Tower Dwellers, saw this insular world; a sanitary refuge isolated from the outside world to be perfection. The only ripple on the placid sea of their existence are the Trolls, a small group living apart beneath these massive structures. Tower Dwellers cannot comprehend anyone rejecting their tower way of life and increasingly mistrust their motivations and fear their imagined mystical powers. Then Govann discovers existential threats confront both groups, threats that neither can overcome alone. His efforts are thwarted by Councilman Lunda Chokwe who has secretly plotted a Troll genocide for years. The arrogant Chancellor Tyre has used these men as counterweights; playing them against each other for years but fails to realize when he has lost control. Now with the survival of both cultures in doubt it falls on Govann to save mankind from another extinction event.
