From preface by author: "It has taken me a long time to collect these stories. Several times I gave up altogether; it seemed as if I could not get together enough to make just the book I wanted. For this is not only a collection of stories about girls under twenty. It is an anothology with an idea. So this collection stories is to get together a group of real girls living through experiences that happen at this time of life, so that you, meeting them in this way, can see where you and the girls in the stories are alike, and where you are different. Includes scarce short stories by Booth Tarkington, Dorothy Canfield, Louisa May Alcott, Katerine Mansfield, and many others. Text is illustrated by Agnes Lehman.
