A popular Halloween attraction is celebrating its final night in operation, but not everyone is excited to be there. One customer in particular was dragged there by his girlfriend and, as the two descend deeper and deeper into the darkness, the walls begin to close in and claustrophobia, combined with being utterly lost in the dark, takes its toll on an already-stressed out mind.Horror author C. Dennis Moore weaves a web of paranoia and fear as the legend of one thrill-seeker who didn't make it out becomes a terrifying reality for our fearful participant as his grip on his own sanity begins to slip in the blackness of the catacombs beneath the city. This 3200-word short story first appeared in a magazine called Panic, then was later reprinted in Moore's first short story collection, Terrible Thrills, for which it now serves as this sampler. Also included as a bonus story is his short "Mistress", which was first published in Erotic Fantasy: Tales of the Paranormal. Together, these stories play with the reader's sense of perception and reality under the weight of stress and fear in unfamiliar surroundings as the main characters are forced to deal with situations that, the further into them they go, the more surreal and less trustworthy their own senses become.
